Joel Reiss, Executive Chef

Executive Chef Joel Reiss, a gastronomical visionary in his own right, brings with him over 25 years of experience working beside some of the best chefs and restaurateurs in the world including well-known names like David Burke and Terrance Brennan. Immediately prior to S PRIME, Chef Reiss was the Executive Chef of The Post House in Manhattan. Born and raised in Queens, Chef Reiss has always had a passion for cooking. He began his professional career at 16 as a line cook for World Yacht Cruise Line in NYC. Encouraged to develop his talents further, Chef Reiss received a Bachelors Degree in Restaurant Management and Culinary Arts from Johnson & Wales in Rhode Island.

 

Chef Reiss has traveled extensively throughout his career integrating different cultures and cuisine into his own unique cooking style.  He has held senior positions in some of the most distinguished restaurants in New York including Park Avenue Cafe, Smith and Wollensky, Maloney and Porcelli Steakhouse, The Odeon, Orsay and Artisinal.  Chef Reiss also served on the organizational & development team for the hugely successful Hawaiian Tropic Zone restaurants in New York City and Las Vegas, NV.
